Denali (Mt. McKinley) is the highest peak in North America, rising to just over 20,300 feet. It has two major summits, with the South Summit slightly higher than the North, and five major glacial flows. Denali means "the great one" or "the high one" in the native Athabascan language. As I flew around the summits in a small plane to photograph its ice-carved landscape, this grand peak of the Alaska Range certainly lived up to its name.
